FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Speedway, Ind. – After a brief hiatus at the end of the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season, ABEL Motorsports is back again in preparations for the 2024 season, with a trio of drivers ready to test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the annual Chris Griffis Memorial Test.
Making the step up into the Dallara IL-15 from the USF Pro 2000 ranks, Jonathan Browne, will be getting his first taste of INDY NXT action at the Greatest Race Course in the World. Browne joins ABEL Motorsports after his sophomore season in USF Pro 2000 where he finished 8th in the driver championship with two podium finishes.
I’m really looking forward to hopping in an INDY NXT car with ABEL Motorsports for the first time ever. There is going to be a lot of learning for me to do on Friday, so I’ll be leaning on the team for their wealth of knowledge in this series and with these cars to improve as the day goes on. I have to give a huge thank you to everyone at ABEL Motorsports for giving me this really cool opportunity to drive this car and to drive it around the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said Jonathan Browne.
Preparing as much as possible for the upcoming 2024 season, Yuven Sundaramoorthy, is once again behind the wheel of an ABEL Motorsports INDY NXT car as the young Indian-American continues to gain experience ahead of his full season campaign with the team in the No. 22 Dallara in 2024.
“Getting to make the jump up to the INDY NXT by Firestone Series is a great challenge and opportunity for me, and this will be a great opportunity to get back behind the wheel and get right back to work with the guys at ABEL Motorsports. The weather seems like it may be a bit hit and miss with rain, so we should get a good test of different conditions,” said Yuven Sundaramoorthy.
After completing his sophomore season in the INDY NXT by Firestone Series, Jacob Abel, is looking forward to getting back in his No. 51 ABEL Consturction Dallara to turn some laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“We just hit the off-season so to have the chance to jump right back into a race car and get to turn laps at IMS (Indianapolis Motor Speedway) is always going to be an opportunity I take. We had a difficult outing here last time but were able to rebound for a solid finish so a lot of Friday for myself and the team will be working on different setups to see if we can find anything that can translate to next year. As always, I have to thank everyone at ABEL Motorsports for their hard work and I am ready to get back on track,” said Jacob Abel.
The Chris Griffis test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway kicks off on Friday October 20th with testing running from 9am ET through 4pm ET and live timing and scoring available on racecontrol.indycar.com.
