– Jacob Abel turned 73 laps during day two of practice posting a best speed of 223.594
Indianapolis, Ind. (May 14, 2026) – The learning continued on day two of practice for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge for the Abel Motorsports team and driver Jacob Abel. With over 180 miles on the day, Abel’s confidence in the No. 51 continues to grow.
“I think we’ve made a lot of progress in traffic, I’m getting way more comfortable in traffic already since yesterday. I’ve been getting much closer to other cars and having good runs and making good overtakes,” exclaimed the Louisville Kentucky native.
As the team continues through their Indianapolis 500 program, Abel recognizes some areas where they can continue to learn and improve upon together to continue to make the race day setup as competitive as possible.

“I think there are some easy tweaks overnight that will help us move pretty significantly up the speed charts. Above all I feel comfortable with everything, the team is really starting to click and feeling really good heading into tomorrow and the weekend.”
The third day of practice for the 2026 Indianapolis 500 goes green on Thursday May 14th beginning at 12:00pm ET. Live coverage will be shown on FOX Sports 2 going from 12:00 – 4:00pm ET, then switching to FOX Sports 1 for the final two hours of practice.
