Monterrey, CA (September 4, 2026) – For the final time in the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone season, Abel Motorsports heads to the track with their four-car lineup ready for the final two races of the season.
Jacob Abel returns to finish out the season in the 48 Steel Dyanmics Inc. Dallara, excited for a double-header weekend in Monterey California. Abel’s last INDY NXT weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca included a trip to the podium in race one.
“I’m really looking forward to heading to the West Coast and especially to race again at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The track there is just incredible to drive, so it will be fun to get back out there and see what we have,” said Jacob Abel.
For Max Garcia, the final race on the calendar marks the first visit for the Miami native to the legendary West Coast circuit. Fresh off the heels of his breakthrough victory last weekend at the Milwaukee Mile, Garcia is riding a wave of momentum heading into the final race weekend of 2026.
“Last weekend was incredible, but we are right back to work this weekend trying to repeat at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. This track has always looked so incredible to drive, I’m really looking forward to my first opportunity around the track and closing out my rookie INDY NXT season strong,” said Max Garcia.
Series veteran, Myles Rowe, just narrowly missed out on a podium finish here in race one back in 2025 and is looking to bring home some hardware from the trip to California.
“I love everything about WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, from the Monterey California area, to the smooth track everything is just awesome out here. We had a great car here last year but couldn’t come away with a trophy, so I can’t think of a better way to end 2026 than with some trophies,” said Myles Rowe.
Colin Kaminsky returns to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and the Monterrey California area for the first time in seven years. Kaminsky had previously competed here in in 2019 in the USF 2000 championship scoring two podium finishes and a pole.
“I’m super excited for WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend. This is one of the best tracks in the country which I had the pleasure of driving once back in 2019. Now to race there in the INDY NXT beast will be super cool. I was on pole way back when my last time there, so I’m ready for my experience to translate into a good result this weekend,” said Colin Kaminsky.
The double-header weekend in California gets underway with two 25-minute practice sessions on Friday September 4th, followed by qualifying and race one on Saturday. Race one can be viewed live on FOX Sports 2 beginning at 6:30pm ET. The final race of the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone championship goes green on Sunday August 6th with coverage being shown live on FOX Sports 1 beginning at 12:30pm ET.
