FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Newton, IA – Abel Motorsports and Jacob Abel are headed to the corn fields of Iowa Speedway for the INDY NXT by Firestone at Iowa Speedway race apart of the HY-VEE INDYCAR Weekend. This will be the series first trip to an oval for 2023 and is the 8th round of the 2023 championship.
Coming in to Iowa, Jacob Abel will be the lone car flying the Abel Motorsports banner, but the Louisville native is feeling confident none the less, after completing a successful day of testing earlier in the year that saw Abel 2nd in the combined testing charts.
“It’s the first oval of the year so I’m really excited about that and just feeling really confident in the setup we’re bringing for our No. 51 Abel Construction Dallara. We don’t get a ton of time on ovals, so to be able to test here a few months ago was really good for my confidence as well as helping us build a notebook of where we can start when we get to the race weekend,” said Jacob Abel.
The INDY NXT by Firestone race at Iowa gets underway on Friday July 21st with the sole practice session and qualifying session of the weekend. The 75-laps of racing action get underway Saturday July 22nd with live flag to flag coverage taking place on Peacock starting at 11:00am ET.
