FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Speedway, Ind. – Abel Motorsports is once again returning to the Racing Capitol of the World – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – with a trio of drivers. Colin Kaminsky is once again back with Abel Motorsports team in his familiar No. 57 Slick Locks Dallara.
It is a quick weekend of work for the Abel Motorsports team as they have practice qualifying and the race all on Friday August 11th. Jacob Abel is looking to continue the momentum that he and his No. 51 Abel Construction team have found after their two consecutive podium finishes at Iowa (2nd) and the Streets of Downtown Nashville (3rd). Abel heads in to round 10 currently 4th in the championship only a few points out of 3rd place.
“It is always awesome to get to come and race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and especially for everyone at Abel Motorsports with our shop being just right down the road. This has really turned in to a home race for our team. We have one day to get up to speed and be ready to go, so the real key to this weekend is making sure we are strong right out of the gate and have everything lined up and ready to go. As we get closer and closer to the end of the season every point matters, so we have to be ready to go this Friday,” said Jacob Abel.
Back for his second event with Abel Motorsports, Italian Francesco Pizzi, is ready to move on from the difficulties experienced in Nashville and see what he can accomplish behind the wheel of his No. 55 Dallara IL-15. Pizzi will also be returning to a track that he has prior experience on, running the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course back in May in the USF Pro 2000 series.
“I’m glad that we had a quick turnaround from Nashville and that I get to jump back into the INDY NXT car so soon. Now that our bad luck is out of the way, I am fully focused on getting everything out of the car that I can as quickly as possible because of how tight the schedule is. I really enjoy driving at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the flow of the course, so it should make for a great weekend,” said Francesco Pizzi.
Back for the first time since Road America earlier in the season, Colin Kaminsky, is ready to get back into the swing of the INDY NXT schedule and pick back up right where he left off. In his last appearance with the team Kaminsky was able to grab a front row starting spot in Road America and is hoping the pace he found with the team continues at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“I have really missed being with the Abel Motorsports team and getting to drive the INDY NXT car, so to not only be back in the car but once again getting to race at the Greatest Race Course in the World, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is just awesome. The team has looked incredibly strong over the last few events, and I can’t wait to get back in the mix and see if we can get the No. 57 Slick Locks machine up towards the pointy end of the time sheets,” said Colin Kaminsky.
The INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix takes place on Friday August 11th with practice, qualifying, and the 35-lap race. Practice and qualifying will be shown live on INDYCAR Live with Peacock picking up live flag to flag coverage beginning at 4:55pm ET.
