FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Portland, Ore. (September 2, 2022) – Abel Motorsports is once again a two-car effort this weekend for the Grand Prix of Portland at the Portland International Raceway. Jacob Abel will be making his return to the Portland International Raceway alongside his new teammate Flinn Lazier. Lazier will be making his Indy Lights debut this weekend piloting the No. 15 car.
Coming off a strong showing at the final oval event on the calendar, Jacob Abel heads into the race weekend still sitting 8th in points. Abel will be making his second trip to Portland, where the Indy Lights rookie has previously raced in Indy Pro 2000 with a best finish of 7th back in 2019.
“Portland is such a fun track to drive because of the high speed and the difficulty, and I really think we have some good ideas for setup. Also having Flinn as a teammate will be a huge help, because we will have someone else getting data for us too that we can compare to mine and make improvements on. All in all, I’m really excited to see what we can accomplish together this weekend, and throughout our West Coast swing,” said Jacob Abel.
Flinn Lazier heads into Portland fresh off a testing session in his new Dallara IL-15, where he was able to get up to speed and learn the car before jumping on track in Portland. Third-generation driver, Lazier, heads into the weekend with two wins in the Formula Atlantic Series.
“I’m feeling really good heading into this weekend, I’ve been feeling very relaxed and focused since I got on the plane. I was able to walk the track last night with my engineers and get a feel for it, and now I just can’t wait to get on track,” said Flinn Lazier.
Abel Motorsports and their 2 drivers get the action started on Friday September 2nd with practice, followed by practice 2 and qualifying on Saturday September 3rd. The Indy Lights Grand Prix of Portland goes green on Sunday September 4th at 10:20am PT. Keep up with the action all weekend by following @abelmotorsports on social media.
