British racing driver, Josh Mason, has signed with ABEL Motorsports to compete for the 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone Championship. The 21-year-old will be behind the wheel of the number 21 Dallara for ABEL Motorsports, and will make his first laps in the Dallara IL-15 in the first practice session on the Streets of St. Petersburg Florida.
Mason brings a wealth of experience to the ABEL Motorsports team, having spent the majority of his racing career on the European formula car ladder, spending 2023 competing in the FIA F2 championship and 2022 in the Euroformula Open Championship scoring three wins.
“I’m really looking forward to racing in INDY NXT by Firestone with ABEL Motorsports this season,” said Josh Mason.
Moving to America to compete in the INDY NXT series will bring its challenges, but Mason is not deterred by that.
“It’s another chapter in my career, now racing in the States for the first time, so it’s going to be a new experience and challenge for me but I can’t wait to get started and do it with ABEL Motorsports. I am really looking forward to experiencing the American racing culture and to get to experience the corkscrew at Laguna (WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca), which looks mega.”
“Overall, my goal for 2024 is to work hard with ABEL Motorsports to extract the best performance and succeed together,” exclaimed Mason.
Ever present over the past few years, Bill Abel is always looking for ways to grow ABEL Motorsports with quality team members and drivers, and with adding Mason to the lineup, Abel thinks he has found another great piece to the entire puzzle.

“I expect Josh to be a contender in each of the races in the INDY NXT championship and of course, to be in the championship hunt,”.
The addition of cars, drivers and crew members to the ABEL Motorsports roster is done in a calculated manner, with the thought behind it being that the more collaboration we have amongst the entries the higher the overall competition level of the team.

Mason will begin his foray into American open-wheel racing beginning on March 8th with the first official practice session of 2024 for the INDY NXT by Firestone series. Saturday holds the final practice session of the weekend, followed by qualifying later that same day.
