FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Speedway, Ind. – One final testing trip ahead of the 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone season is all that stands in the way for ABEL Motorsports before the official kickoff to the season at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 10th. This will be the final time the INDY NXT teams have to dial things in ahead of the 14-race schedule, and to get the drivers as comfortable as possible in their Dallara IL-15’s.
Leading the way in the last series test at Sebring with the fastest lap on day one followed by the second fastest lap on day 2, Jacob Abel returns to WeatherTech Raceway eager to continue building his 2024 program.
“Sebring was a mixed bag for us with the weather, but it’s never a bad thing to show some speed,” said Jacob Abel reflecting on testing at Sebring International Raceway.
“Laguna hasn’t been our strongest track the last few years, so to get two full days to just run laps and work on setups will be a huge help to us when we come back in June for the races. I really feel like we are the most prepared we have ever been heading into a season, and I can’t wait to get things going and start the fight for the 2024 championship,” exclaimed Jacob Abel.
After a busy 2-day test session at Sebring International Raceway completing 149 total laps, Yuven Sundaramoorthy is ready to get back to work on the West Coast with his No. 22 S Team Motorsports crew.
“I’m really excited to get back to California and WeatherTech Raceway for some more INDY NXT testing,” said Sundaramoorthy.
Sundaramoorthy was able to score a top-ten finish in the season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in 2023, and is hoping to build off the pace he and his team found during last season.
“I had a blast at Laguna (WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca) last year, and felt that we were pretty competitive on pace, so I’m excited to get back there and build off of last season. Sebring was great for us just in terms of how many laps we were able to run and getting more seat time in for me, and I’m looking forward to continuing that in Laguna.”
This will be the final outing for ABEL Motorsports ahead of their 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone campaign, and provides the last opportunity for the teams to make tweaks to give them the best chance possible when the green flag flies on March 10th.
