Speedway, Ind. (June 10, 2022) – Abel Motorsports is making the annual trip to Road America, the site of the team’s first podium finish of 2021 in the Indy Pro 2000 championship. The Indy Lights Grand Prix at Road America will be the 7th round of the 2022 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship.
Abel Motorsports driver, Jacob Abel, heads into the weekend at Road America sitting 10th in the points, 27 points out of the lead for Rookie of the Year. After a disappointing weekend in Detroit that saw Abel get into the wall in race 1 and have a mechanical issue in race 2, a solid and consistent weekend for Abel and the No. 51 Abel Construction car is what the team is working for.
“Detroit didn’t go how the team and I had hoped for at all, so having the opportunity to go back to a racetrack the week after is great. Road America has always been a great track for me, including finishing on the podium last year in Indy Pro 2000. We’re going to keep doing what we have been doing all year, and hopefully we can be fighting for a podium finish,” said Jacob Abel.
The action at Road America gets started on June 10th with practice 1. June 11th is another round of practice followed by qualifying. Race day is June 12th with the green flag falling at 9:40am CDT.
