Mixed Results for Abel Motorsports at Barber Motorsports Park

  • Jordan Missig continues his streak of top-10 finishes and achieved his INDY NXT career best qualifying position of fourth
  • Max Garcia scored his best career INDY NXT finish of fourth during race one at Barber Motorsports Park

Leeds, Al. (March 31, 2026) – Rounds three and four of the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone season proved to be a mixed bag for the Abel Motorsports team.

For Jordan Missig and the No. 48 crew, the weekend was one to remember as Missig continued his streak of top-10 finishes and scored his best career INDY NXT start of fourth for race two. Missig currently sits eighth in points just 76 points out of the championship lead.

“Barber treated me well for once. We knew we had ourselves a quick No. 48 GR1P Abel Motorsports car when we were inside the top-10 after the first and only practice. Qualifying just backed it up and gave us great starting positions for both races,” said Missig.

With passing at a premium, Missig knew that he would have to find almost perfect situations to complete a pass and move up the order.

“It was all about holding serve and trying to finish where we qualified if not better in the races. But a track like Barber makes it very difficult to pass and with how competitive this field is mistakes are few and far between. Nonetheless, we brought home some great points towards the championship and moved up a couple of spots in the standings. Looking forward to see what we can do in Indy.”

Max Garcia was excited about his first visit to Barber Motorsports Park for a race weekend, but unfortunately experienced both the highs and lows that INDY NXT racing can offer.

“Barber was an interesting event for us on the No. 12 car, definitely experienced the highs and lows of a race weekend,” said the 17-year-old.

“As a group we made big gains, I think the results on Saturday proved that with us having 3 cars in the top-10. We have an entire month of testing ahead of us in April, so I’m really looking forward to keeping my head down and continuing to improve and learn this car. Also looking forward to enjoying a few days off for my Spring Break!”

The double-header for Myles Rowe was the tale of two races, scoring a strong fifth place finish. Race two saw an opening lap incident that would erase Rowe’s chances at another strong showing.

“Barber was a bit of everything for the Abel Motorsports with Force Indy group. I felt like in race 1 we just didn’t have the pace to drive up front and battle, but we had a smart race and brought home a top-five and some good points in the championship,” said Rowe.

Sunday we had a very similar plan, but unfortunately we made contact with Max and it was pretty much just go out and complete as many laps as possible after we repaired the damage. Not the way we wanted to cap off the weekend, but we will move forward together and get ready for Indianapolis in May.”

Looking for redemption after getting taken out on the opening lap of the Grand Prix of Arlington, Colin Kaminsky was eager to get back behind the wheel of the No. 57 Slick Locks Abel Motorsports machine.

“Unfortunately, we had a terrible weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in terms of on track results. We found an issue late in the weekend after race one on Saturday but were already starting at the back of the pack for race two due to the issue,” stated Kaminsky.

“We can hang out hats on the combined effort as a team to identify the issue and rectify it. After making changes to the car overnight we were able to post the seventh fastest lap of the race in race two on Sunday, as well as move forward five spots. I also posted that fast lap while passing another car, proving we had a lot of pace in the No. 57. We have a month of testing coming up to straighten out these kinks, and I’m confident that everyone at Abel Motorsports will be able to execute.”

While the INDY NXT racing action takes a slight pause until rounds five and six at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, testing kicks back into high gear as the Abel Motorsports team readies their four cars for upcoming tests at Nashville Superspeedway, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and finally the World Wide Technology Raceway.
