Leeds, Al. (March 27, 2026) – With two rounds already complete in the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone season, Abel Motorsports heads south again to Birmingham Alabama and the Barber Motorsports Park. This weekend marks the first of five double-header weekends on the INDY NXT schedule.
After a strong fourth place finish in 2025 at Barber, INDY NXT series veteran Myles Rowe is excited to be surrounded by his family in Alabama as he chases his third INDY NXT victory. The family connection for Rowe in Alabama truly makes this feel like a home race for the 25-year-old.
“I’m very excited to go back to Barber, I have a lot of history there with my racing career and my moms side of the family is here so just really looking forward to Barber,” exclaimed Rowe.
“I love when I get to be surrounded by my family at the track, it bring me such a comforting energy so I’m looking for a strong result here. We had a good car here in the test, so now its time to capitalize.”
Now 17-year-old, Max Garcia, will be making his first attempt at Barber Motorsports Park and feels confident after getting to spend a day testing here back in November. Those laps in testing will allow Garcia to head straight into practice focused on extracting the most speed out of the car instead of having to take time to learn the course.
“I’m looking forward to kicking off my Spring Break at Barber Motorsports Park with the Abel Motorsports guys,” said Garcia.
“This is my first time racing at Barber, and I can’t wait. I drove the track in November when we tested here and it’s a very high speed and flowing track and I can’t wait to see how the car handles here in the warmth. Its also really cool to explore the track here a bit and look at all the different art sculptures around the track, its such a unique place.”
After such a disappointing end to his weekend in Arlington, Colin Kaminsky heads to Barber with redemption on his mind. With Abel Motorsports dominant win and pole at Barber in 2024, Kaminsky is eager to lean on his engineering staff and the wealth of experience at Abel Motorsports as he chases a better result.
“I am stoked for Barber this weekend. Everyone on the No. 57 is extremely determined to convert our combined experience there into a strong result. With only one practice session and it being a double-header, we will have to get to work straightaway. We all know we are capable of running at the front and that is what we are rocking up to do. The skies will be blue, lets just hope its sweet,” joked Kaminsky.
Riding a wave of momentum after the first two rounds of competition, Jordan Missig is looking forward to continuing that momentum and building on it for an even stronger finish.
“Really looking forward to Barber Motorsports Park this weekend, last year we struggled a little in the race but we’re looking for more this year. We are coming off some momentum from the first two races of the season, so feeling great,” exclaimed Missig.
Always thinking big picture and the championship, Missig knows the importance this weekend holds with it being a double-header.
“This is our first double-header of the season and because of the new format this year these kinds of weekends are going to become crucial when it comes to building points up for the championship. Good results are going to be needed as it will create some space for the long season championship still to come.”
